SOPA/PIPA Threatens the Internet

What is SOPA

SOPA stands for the Stop Online Piracy Act, this bill deals with issues like copyright infringement and piracy. The bill enables the copyright holders to seek judiciary action against any website that facilitates copyrighting. Meaning that search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing wouldn’t be able to link nor feature sites on their search lists. This would also affect online payment processors such as Paypal from interacting with infringing websites. If you use open source software or cracked versions of software, beware as they will be cracking down on these as well as getting rid of them.

What is PIPA

PIPA stands for Protect IP Act, if passed PIPA will give the government and copyright holders the ability to monitor websites whose sole purpose is to infringe and sell counterfeit goods.

Ways you can FIGHT SOPA/PIPA

Here are some ways you can help veto SOPA/PIPA. Please take a few moments out of your day to help.

1) Sign, sign, sign as many as petitions as you can.

2) Contact your District Representatives or State Senators

3) Show your disapproval of SOPA by adding banners, ribbons, ads, etc… to your website

3.3 Version of WordPress Released

WordPress 3.3 was released 12/12/11 with many changes that I LOVE that will help your workflow. So far no issues with the upgrade but I would always advice to backup your website before updating WordPress (Preserve your web presence). The drag and drop uploader is great allowing users to simply drag files into the uploader eliminating unnecessary clicking.
